Brownlee Jewelry History Timeline
Brownlee Jewelry Company opened inside the Brownlee Pharmacy as a small jewelry display cabinet inside the West Building, which is across the street from our current location. Mr. Lewis C. Brownlee Sr. was the owner and pharmacist in the Brownlee business. He was later joined by his son Lewis C. Brownlee Jr. after his military service as a Captain in the Army where he also served as a translator in Korea. "Pinky Brownlee" was a watchmaker and businessman.
1932
1951
Brownlee Sr. sold the West Building to Bruce and Millie Scott. The Brownlee family moved the jewelry store across the street to our current location at 201 Simonton Street inside the Ferguson Building owned by the Muse family.
Lewis C. Brownlee Sr. sold Brownlee Jewelry Company to his son Lewis C. Brownlee Jr. where he operated it until his death in 1988.

1977
Lewis C. Brownlee Sr. passed away and “Pinky” Brownlee continued to operate Brownlee Jewelers.
Janice Parish joined the Brownlee Jewelers team. Janice learned sales, management, and many other jewelry and watchmaking skills from "Pinky" Brownlee.
1981
1985
Janice Parish went to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) jewelry repair school where she studied hands-on jewelry repair, stone setting, and advanced stone setting.
Janice Parish went to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in California to earn a Graduate Gemologist (GG) degree by studying diamonds, diamond grading, colored stones, and gem identification, as well as courses in appraisals and analysis. After returning home to Brownlee Jewelers, Janice set up a full gemstone lab and continued her identification and appraisal work.

Mr. “Pinky” Brownlee Jr. passed away.
Janice Parish established ownership as sole proprietor of Brownlee Jewelers as a gift from Mr. "Pinky" Brownlee.

2008
Conroe was designated a "Main Street City" and was awarded this designation with grant money to restore existing downtown buildings to maintain the historical significance of the region. The Ferguson Building at 201 Simonton Street was one of the restored and remodeled buildings.
Janice and her son, Mason Parish, were blessed to purchase the building that currently houses Brownlee Jewelers from Mrs. Marsha Muse. After being tenants in this beautiful building for many years, it was a privilege and honor to purchase the building.
